Well-known to everyone, Favicon is the sign of the quality of the site at the moment. If anyone does not know, it is a small icon in the browser line to the left of the page address. Also, in various catalogs and applications, these icons are shown. So it was necessary to make such an icon and for my site.
The idea is drastically simple. The site is personal and even with the own domain name. So I had to reflect it somehow in the icon, which is also almost a logo site. The easiest thing that comes to mind for a personal website – the initials. It is the initials and formed the basis of the idea. My name is Ivan Klimchuk. In the English alphabet, the initials will look like this: IK.
I will not tell you how to draw icon in Photoshop or Gimp, that is not what we are talking about now. The main thing is that after we created our image, we reduce it to a reasonable size and place it at the root of the site. Reasonable size? It’s hard to say what is fair. Browsers usually need a square picture with a 16px side. But where else can the icon be used? I made a 32x32px size, although it may not be enough. It’s better to name the file accurately as “favicon.”
Next, you need to connect it to the page. It is effortless to do:
<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.png" type="image/x-icon"> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.png" type="image/x-icon">
Although there is no particular problem with Internet Explorer, I did not contact it. The point is that it only requires an icon in ICO format. I do not like IE, and I advise users who do use it to download a better browser. And I apologize immediately for the fact that you will not see the icon.
